Will Smith might have to reprise his role of Dr. Robert Neville after all for a prequel to I Am Legend.
Francis Lawrence, at Comic Con, has hinted at it in not so many words and I’m NOT all that excited!
He told Shock Till You Drop that
“Yes, yes, absolutely, we’re actually trying to crack that. We’re trying to figure out some ideas for it.”
I Am Legend amassed some $ 580 Million worldwide when it came out and Will Smith’s acting was out of this world. The way he tried to keep it together in a dead New York with only a dog as his companion and a gentle reminder that he is still sane and human was a wonderful display of acting skills. I had always hoped they’d make a sequel to it but a prequel makes little sense. You got to know what happened right from the start of the movie. Will’s character had it all figured how to survive and what not to do to attract unwanted attention. It just doesn’t leave enough to imagine about. A sequel on the other hand would have been better in my opinion.
It’s a bold move no wonder. Who knows though. This just might click.
